Is Jesus weeping over your image of Him? Just like the Jewish crowd during the Triumphal entry, we can create false Jesuses. When we attempt to surrender to those, we are left with calamity in our souls.
Perfection is a Burden You Don’t Have to Bear
As we grow in our faith, we want to hide our sins more. Falling is for toddlers, not for adults, but Jesus simply wants the honest and genuine you.
A Reason to Celebrate
Celebrations are a lot of work and they feel like they can lose their meaning over time, but God had a special purpose for them. He knew we would need celebrations to refresh and strengthen our souls.
Purpose for the Pain
Sickness, Illness and disease are horrible and can make us question God’s love and involvement in our lives. But seek Jesus because He is waiting to tell you how important you are to Him.
Cleansed from Shame
After having a strong relationship with the Lord, I fell into a sinful practice. Even after I stopped, the shame didn't go away. I felt like God couldn't use me anymore. Then one day, He showed me the truth. He discarded my filthy rags of shame and clothed me with peace and hope.
When Hope (Seems To) Fail
One of the main messages of Christmas is hope. But there are years in our life when those prayers for hope go unanswered. Even though it seems like God has failed you, you’re not alone. And even when it’s hard to see, there is always hope.
Humility in Prayer
Upon digging further, I also found 1 John 5:14-15, “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” So it’s not just whatever we ask; it’s whatever we ask according to His will. Our confidence in prayer then can be held in promises He has already given us in Scripture, or occasionally devine personal revelation. But that left me lost about prayers for healing or personal requests. What is the point praying for our health or desires, when we have no power to change God’s will?
Nativity Musical
Joseph: “Guess who.” Mary: (spins around.) “Joseph! You’ll never believe what just happened.” Joseph: “It took you less than an hour to fold all the laundry?” Mary: “I just saw an angel.” Joseph: “Like an angel of the Lord? Come, on Mary. I know you like to be creative, but don’t you think that’s a little far. Angels only appear to great people.” Mary: “But one did, Joseph! It’s no story! I’m telling the truth.” Joseph: “Well, what did he tell you then, dear?” Mary: “The Lord, He came upon me and said I would bear His son. I’m pregnant. Just like the prophet Isaiah said, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” [Isaiah 7:14]
